Grants Awarded to 18 Best Performing VSOs
Furthering MVAT’s mission and building on the programmatic and fundraising successes of 2016, the foundation was honored to award 18 veterans serving organizations with community support grants this past December. Since MVAT’s inception, the foundation has invested more than $1.25 million in our partner organizations. By investing in these carefully selected and vetted organizations, MVAT ensures that a needed network of resources and care exists for America’s veterans and their families in need.
In keeping with our commitment to our home base and its large veteran population, 75 percent (14 of 18) of MVAT’s partner organizations are located in California with more than half (10 of 18) in Los Angeles.
MVAT’s Beneficiaries Committee analyzed funding proposals, scrutinizing for organizational financial health, program efficiencies, outcomes, and good governance practices. In 2016, emphasis was placed on smaller charities or to specific programs where the MVAT grant can make a material difference to the effort’s success. The 18 charities and specified programs are:
